Handwoven in Addis Ababa

Where tradition meets modern fashion

Every piece begins as fine Ethiopian cotton on a wooden loom. Two sisters shape it into garments made to be worn now — and kept for years.

ሸማ — ጥበብ የለበሰ ውበት

Two faceless women in handwoven Ethiopian shema — one in a classic white habesha kemis with a gold tibeb border, the other in a modern terracotta wrap dress — standing before a warm arch while a netela ribbon with a tibeb edge drifts between them.

Our Story

Two sisters, one loom

Shema Wears began with two sisters in Addis Ababa and a deep respect for ሸማ — cotton handwoven the way it has been for generations. Working directly with artisan weavers, they cut tradition into shapes made for today.
